Hey guys,
I’ve recently been loving the “My first time” tag on YouTube which I believe was started by Louise a.k.a. Sprinkleofglitter, so I decided to do a blog post on this myself. And nope, this is not about anything too personal – if you know what I mean – so if you’re hoping for that… sorry friend π
Okay, let’s get started!
My first pet – was a little blue budgie called Peepsee. Why that name? Well, I got him for my first day at school when I was 6 years old and me being a little smartass I thought “Mhhh… Can’t budgies learn to talk? Well, as he’s a bird he’ll probably be capable of saying “peep” so all he has to learn in order to say his own name will be “see””!… Yaaaaah… That didn’t work out so well π But Peepsee – although he never said a word – became quite old, he hadΒ to be put asleep by the time I entered high school.
My first teddybear –Β was (at least in my opinion) a dog. That’s why I named him Kuschelhund – duuuh – he was a dog you could cuddle with! When I moved together with my boyfriend this year in May, Kuschelhund got to travel in one of 6 white IKEA cardboardboxes that usually stand on top of my wardrobe. I had a lot of friends helping me move all my stuff, so we had a rental truck and about 3 or 4 cars. Now, later that night, when everyone was gone, we put up my wardrobe so that was out of the way and I gathered my 6 boxes to go on top of it. Wait, 6 I said? Why were there only 5 of them? The box with Kuschelhund in it had vanished. Gone. Disappeared. I called every one of my helpers, no one had a white box in their car. Next day I called the truck rental – they hadn’t seen a box either. I looked on the streets in front of my old house and the new one… No white box. But that time I had been crying a lot of tears – seriously, I couln’t stand the thought of my Kuschelhund being out in the rain in that little cardbox box, soaking wet, maybe run over by a car… (Yah, I’m almost crying again now I’m writing about this…) Anyway, I decided to move on with unpacking, maybe the box would be found somewhere. So I went to my room, opened my wardrobe to put some clothes in – and there it was π The box and Kuschelhund had been in there all the time π Lucky me π

My first friend –Β my actual first friend was a girl from the appartment building my parents lived in when I was born. Her name was Elena and she was 6 weeks older that me. But since I haven’t seen her in like… 20-something years now, I will tell you about the time I met my REAL first friend. Let’s call her N. N and I met in the summer of 1990 when we were both 3-and- a-half years old. Our Kindergarten had an orientation day – that’s where we met and it was love at first sight π We went to Kindergarten and elementary school together, but when we got into 5th grade our educational ways split up. But we would still meet all the time (Tuesdays we went to my house and on Wednesdays we’d be at hers – it has always been that way :)), spend parts of our summer vacations at my Grandma’s and just had a great time together. Can you even imagine how happy I was when after she finished university she got a job offer here in Hamburg? We’re reunited now and still are great friends, which I’m very thankful for π
My first CD –Β “Alles nur geklaut” by the German band “Die Prinzen”. Still love them π I got the CD when I was about 10 years old from my godfather π
My first word –Β Shoe π How girly, right?
My first concert –Β The Kelly Family π In like… 1998 I guess? π
My first time on an airplane – wasn’t until I was 14! Because my Mom is afraid of flying, I’ve never gone anywhere on a plane with my parents. My first flight then took me to Paris for a student exchange. I had an awesome time there!!Β
My first job –Β besides babysitting and tutoring: Working at a supermarkt checkout. Yap, exciting π But what I’ve learned there is that actually money does stink. Eeeww. Also: When you put bottles on that conveyor belt (is that what you call it?) at the checkout, don’t (!) put them on there standing up and also not lying down with their long side facing the moving direction… They will roll all the time and that noise might get annoying for the poor girl siitng at the checkout all day. Oh, and if you buy a bottle of FederweiΓer (all you Germans know what I’m talking about…), please don’t put it on the belt at all. Just hold on to it. Thank you so much! π
My first car –Β a used, dark blue 1998 Ford Fiesta π I loved it sooo much!Β
My first cellphone –Β A black Motorola CD 930 π How many pictures of old cellphones did I have to look at on google to find out what it was called? Don’t ask π
Well, I hope you liked my little TAG post, I would love to hear from any of your first times in the comments π
